About the event
Communism and Family
Alexandra Kollontai's pamphlet "Communism and Family" is a classic work of the women's movement, in which the perspectives opened up for the liberation of women after the Russian Revolution were recorded.
It was written in 1920, when Kollontai was Minister of Social Welfare, and she implemented a series of policies towards women's independence from men, liberating women from the exclusive role of housewife and caretaker, and establishing various sexual and reproductive rights for women of the time.
Many of the above were implemented in Cyprus many decades later and others were never implemented. In presenting Kollodai's pamphlet, we want to see how the analysis and policies she implemented a century ago can be meaningful for the contemporary feminist movement and its struggles.
